Although the Browns did not have any games announced for the regular season yet, the preseason schedule is out! We'll face Chicago and Detroit yet again, but Philadelphia and Buffalo have been added to the mix. As you know, we used to scrimmage Buffalo every year before Romeo Crennel arrived.
Week 1 - Aug. 10 to Aug. 14
Cleveland at Philadelphia
Looks like we will be seeing Jeff Garcia once again. No more Terrell Owens, so the Eagles need to continue to develop their offense.
Week 2 - Aug. 17 to Aug. 21
Detroit at Cleveland
First home game, and Jon Kitna could be the Lions starting quarterback. A case of the Lions' trio of wide receivers that weren't.
Week 3 - Aug. 24 to Aug. 28
Cleveland at Buffalo
It should be nice to see Kelly Holcomb take us on. Who knows, if the Bills trade Losman, he could be their starter at that time.
Week 4 - Aug. 31 to Sept. 2
Chicago at Cleveland
It's a shame that Chicago will rest most of their starters in this game, since they would've given us a decent defensive test.
Now, in today's Plain Dealer, I was a little surprised to see this:
Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Cleveland Browns CB Daylon McCutcheon will open the 2006 season as a starting cornerback.
Leigh Bodden will rotate in with Baxter and McCutcheon for the time being. I thought there may have been a competition in camp, with Bodden possibly getting the job. Still, anything can happen. Other news that Grossi mentioned is that Jason Wright could be our third-down back, Kellen Winslow should be good to go, Matt Stewart may be a starter, and Braylon Edwards should be back "somewhere around the beginning of the year."
