Browns Decide on Tucker; Waive Butler

The Browns didn't wait until after this Sunday's game to make a decision on what to do with offensive lineman Ryan Tucker. The team waived backup right tackle Kelly Butler to make room for Tucker after he served a four-game suspension to begin the season.

Although Dave Zastudil has been participating in practice, the easiest move to make would have seemingly been to waive Scott Player, so that Butler could have been kept as insurance. However, by keeping two punters on the roster for tomorrow's game, I would expect Player to get the start again.

This does not necessarily spell the end of Butler's career with the Browns. The Browns could still make a move next week to bring him back, but on the same note, they may be fully content with the number of linemen they currently have. Bringing Butler back would mean that we would be carrying one more offensive lineman than we did over the first five games of the season.

In injury-related news, Gary Baxter's return to the field will have to wait another week, according to the OBR. The former Raven has officially been ruled OUT for tomorrow's game.

Finally, before I forget, congratulations to Joshua Cribbs, who was named the AFC Special Teams Player of the Month.
