With the 14th pick in the 2011 Dawgs By Nature Community Mock Draft, the St. Louis Rams select...

Julio Jones, WR, Alabama

This selection and write-up was made by Don'tByBrownsQBJerseys:

When I first signed up for the Rams in this community mock draft, the first player that popped into my mind was Julio Jones.  He has always seemed like the perfect pick for this team in my eyes: fills a major need, great size, blazing speed, and a fantastic junior season with 1,000+ yards receiving with 7 trips to the end zone.  And because of those reasons, I see the Rams selecting Jones if he is available here.

The Rams as a team are not actually "set;" they have some glaring needs on their defensive front seven, and could definitely use this pick on a quality offensive lineman like Anthony Castonzo or Mike Pouncey to keep Sam Bradford upright and Steven Jackson from turning to dust.

At the end of the day though, the fact is that St. Louis has a manageable line and this is one of the deepest defensive drafts in years, but the Rams were extremely ineffective offensively this past year.  Much like our beloved Browns, they have no deep threat, and with the sub-4.4 40-time Jones just put up with a screw in his foot at the combine, they instantly become a more explosive offensive team.

Who knows? Maybe this pick will bring us back to the glory days of every team in the playoffs having a winning record.  Maybe…

I am a little concerned with what Steven Jackson has has had to battle through the past few years, but overall he has toughed things out. Sam Bradford had a good rookie season, and pairing him with a top-notch receiver in Julio Jones seems like a great move. You might ask, "why an offensive lineman in Detroit to protect Stafford but not one in St. Louis to protect Bradford?" Well, the Lions already have Calvin Johnson, and while the Rams have Donnie Avery coming back and a few other youngsters who did well, Jones can help propel that offense in what will still be a weak NFC West, comparatively speaking.

The Miami Dolphins are on the clock next (email has been sent to jaws).
