JaJuan Dawson was a wide receiver who the Browns took with the 79th overall pick of the 2000 NFL Draft. It figures that he was taken pretty much right after running back Travis Prentice that year, as both players represent which side of the "hit and miss" scale the Browns were on when it came to draft picks. Don't get too obsessed with Dawson being ranked one spot worse than Prentice; for all intents and purposes, they together as a package here.
In Dawson's rookie season, he had 9 catches for 97 yards and a touchdown. He followed that up with a sophomore season consisting of 22 catches for 281 yards and a touchdown. He was cut by the team after that and only played one more season for the Houston Texans, matching his production from his final season in Cleveland.
Here is a hat tip to Bernie19Kosar for pointing this fun fact out in his review of the Browns' 2000 draft last year:
For those keeping score at home, the Browns had two third rounders that played a combined five seasons in the NFL and only three of those were with the Browns.
I know third round picks are no guarantees to be big time playmakers or anything, but for them to only last a combined three seasons in Cleveland before being out of the NFL shortly thereafter is pretty bad. If Dawson is on this list as a wide receiver, then I'm sure you can guess another receiver who will be on here eventually from a slightly more recent draft. It isn't Brian Robiskie, but it is a player who received some faux-hype and never materialized into anything.
