After an impressive start to the season, the last thing Cleveland Browns fans wanted to see was first-round draft choice Phil Taylor on the ground with an injury. Taylor went down toward the end of the first half against the Miami Dolphins this past Sunday. After heading to the sideline though, Taylor returned to the field a couple of plays later.
Early reports were that Taylor was diagnosed with an MCL sprain. I get nervous when I hear about anything related to a knee injury, but Taylor played the rest of the game and seemed fine. He finished the game with 7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for a loss, and 1 quarterback hit.
When head coach Pat Shurmur was asked about Taylor Monday afternoon, he was concise in his response. "He'll be fine," said Shurmur. "He only missed two plays."
Sounds good to me. A little bit later, I'll have an article up highlighting the status of running back Peyton Hillis, who missed Sunday's game with strep throat.
