Fans were a little concerned when they heard about RB Trent Richardson missing practice on Friday morning, until they learned that he was excused for the birth of his child. He will be good to go on Sunday, but a couple of other players won't be available. TE Alex Smith and S Tashaun Gipson have officially been ruled out, and WR Mohamed Massaquoi and WR Travis Benjamin are doubtful.
The Browns will be thin at the receiver position, but Joshua Cribbs will play after being knocked out last week against the Ravens. Four receivers are expected to be available -- Josh Gordon, Greg Little, Jordan Norwood, and Cribbs.
The Browns were thought to be thin at safety, but T.J. Ward said he will play against the Giants after having surgery on his hand. Usama Young is expected to play as well. With Gipson out, S Eric Hagg will probably be active. The other big injury-related news is that James-Michael Johnson is expected to make his regular season debut. He has been dealing with rib and oblique issues since the end of the preseason.
The Giants are pretty banged up headed into this game. Cleveland's secondary gets a break with WR Hakeem Nicks and WR Ramses Barden being ruled out. When you tally up all of the players the Giants will be missing, things could get very interesting on Sunday.
