In SB Nation's Week 17 NFL Power Rankings, Ryan Van Bibber (who has taken over for Joel Thorman) dropped the Cleveland Browns to No. 21 overall after their loss to the Broncos. I think a little "respect" is still there knowing what type of team the Browns were most of the season (competitive). With that said, power rankings should be reflective of your team's current status, and heading into Week 17, the Browns are set to be thin at a lot of positions. Here's what Ryan said about the Browns this week:
21. Cleveland Browns (LW: 21, 5-10): So much for all the experience an elderly Brandon Weeden was supposed to give this team. The most frustrating thing here is that the roster really does have talent, more than enough to stave off the team's fifth straight season of double-digit losses. Jimmy Haslam can't blow this up soon enough.
Here is how the rest of the AFC North fared in the rankings:
Baltimore: No. 9 (push from No. 9)
Cincinnati: No. 10 (up from No. 13)
Pittsburgh: No. 18 (down from No. 16)
Cleveland: No. 21 (down from No. 18)
Can the Browns leap past the Steelers to close out the season? They should if they win the season series, but we shall see.
