With the 28th pick in the 2012 Dawgs By Nature Community Mock Draft, the Green Bay Packers select...

Devon Still, DE, Penn State

This selection and write-up was made by ScottJC:

The main needs for the Packers this year are on their defensive line, along with help needed for the outside pass rush to take the place of people that have moved on (Jolley, Texas Penal League) or have injury questions (Neal). That being said, It looks like everyone else has the need for pass rush as well. Devon's measurements (6'5", 303 lbs) would make him a good fit as a 3-4 defensive end to help to solidify the front seven. He should have the size and the strength to jump right into the starter or a back up role with Ryan Pickett or at least work his way into the rotation. He may have to be more in the mix more if further suspensions are handed down to recently signed FA DE Anthony Hargrove.

Other options that would be considered at this pick would be if Nick Perry, Andre Branch or Melvin Ingram some how fall all the way to the 28th pick. Peter Konz was also considered at this point and would be an heir apparent to Jeff Saturday since his signing and Scott Wells leaving. The OLB and Depth at OL would be the most likely options with the Packers second round pick.

When you're a team that is stacked like the Packers offensively, they are definitely in position to where they need to focus on the defense. Although they finished with a 15-1 record in the regular season, their defense allowed 35 points or more in two games against the New York Giants -- one of those games came in the second round of the postseason, paving the way for the Giants to win the Super Bowl. Still might not be a breakout star, but anything that can be done to build a stronger front seven is a good move.

The Baltimore Ravens are on the clock next (email will be sent to Ecwingen).
