With the 32nd pick in the 2012 Dawgs By Nature Community Mock Draft, the New York Giants select...

Kevin Zeitler, OG, Wisconsin

This selection and write-up was made by Red-Right-88:

The Defending Super Bowl Champions have lost some big name Free Agents this off season. Mario Manningham and Brandon Jacobs have left for San Fransisco. Going into the off season they also wanted to shore up their Linebacker corps and their Offensive Line. They have 8 picks (2 in the 4th).

Last week they traded a 5th round pick to the Bengals for Keith Rivers. It also looks like former Akron Zip Chase Blackburn will be returning.

So I figured I would be looking at RB or WR with their first pick. Ahmad Bradshaw won't be participating in OTA's or mini camps as he had a bone marrow injection to help heal his feet. Another former Akron Zip (Go Zips!) Dominek Hixon is coming off a torn ACL, so they will be looking for a replacement for Manningham early in the draft.

GM Jerry Reese has had good success finding O-Linemen in the middle rounds, but when I saw Kevin Zeitler drop this far, I couldn't resist. 6-4 314, Zeitler lead the nation in Knockdown blocks with 142 and he had 33 blocks that lead to TD's. We are always calling football players "beasts" but this guy might be the real deal. He has been described as a "Mauling Blocker", as he helped Wisconsin average 237 yards on the ground per game. (of course Mad Dawg in a Meat Locker came to mind...but lets not go there...)

They did sign Washington OL Sean Locklear last week but I believe that is mainly for depth. Continuing to give your franchise QB Eli Manning more protection is never a bad thing.

Zeitler was a First team All-American with AFCA and Pro Football Weekly, he was consensus First Team All Big Ten. He also started every game the last 3 years. According to some scouting sites, "he regularly hits secondary targets and uses his strong hands to latch on and keeps his legs churning". He is a known perfectionist in every thing he does, from workouts to techniques.

The Panthers had him in for a visit and he is also becoming the focus of the Ravens and 49ers.

The defending Super Bowl Champions can pick whoever they darn well choose. On a side note, what if you paired Zeitler up with Joe Thomas for a dynamic Wisconsin duo?

Part of the second round should commence next.
