Don Banks' Mock Draft: Richardson and Wright for Browns

We are officially less than a week away from the 2012 NFL Draft. and that means everyone is going to start filing the final editions of their mock drafts. On Wednesday, Don Banks of Sports Illustrated posted the latest edition of his mock draft, which has the Cleveland Browns drafting running back Trent Richardson and wide receiver Kendall Wright in the first round. The details of those picks are after the jump.

No. 4 - RB Trent Richardson: We all know running backs aren't great long-term bets in the NFL, but if you're trying to give your third-year quarterback some weapons to work with to help him over the hump, are you really worried about six or seven seasons down the road? Why not get Colt McCoy the best running back available and roll the dice on him?

No. 22 - WR Kendall Wright: Picking a starter for the right offensive tackle slot (Ohio State's Mike Adams?) makes the most sense to me, but maybe the Browns want to see how much juice their once-woeful offense can generate with the addition of both a first-round running back and a first-round receiver.

The interesting pick of the first round for Banks involved cornerback Stephon Gilmore, who goes to the Carolina Panthers at No. 9 overall, four spots behind cornerback Morris Claiborne going to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Banks' scenario also has defensive lineman Fletcher Cox (who was ranked fairly low on our big board), going to the Jaguars at No. 7 overall.
