Bears and Seahawks Interested in Eric Steinbach

ESPN Chicago is reporting that the Chicago Bears and the Seattle Seahawks are among the teams who have contacted former Cleveland Browns left guard Eric Steinbach.

Another name on the Bears' radar is veteran guard Eric Steinbach, who was released by the Cleveland Browns on March 14 after being asked to take a significant reduction in pay. The Bears and Seattle Seahawks are among the teams that have made inquiries about Steinbach, according to sources familiar with the situation. The Baltimore Ravens might also be in the market for help at left guard, according to a source.

The Browns have not ruled out the thought of bringing Steinbach back, but if a few teams have already contacted him, chances are he won't be playing alongside Joe Thomas again next year. If Steinbach is still recovering from his back injury, though, you have to wonder if he could even pass a physical at this point. Teams might wait to try to sign him as an insurance policy if they feel their depth at the guard position is still thin following the NFL Draft.
