You can say goodbye to running back Armond Smith. The Cleveland Browns waived the second-year running back on Monday. He made the 2011 roster as an undrafted free agent thanks to the injury to Brandon Jackson, but was soon waived and placed on the team's practice squad. He was best known for a big run last preseason, and for not being able to execute on a 4th-and-1 pitch play during the regular season.
Taking Smith's spot on the roster is undrafted free agent running back Adonis Thomas, who ran for 1,071 yards at Toledo last season. Thomas participated in the team's rookie minicamp on a tryout basis and obviously did enough to warrant being retained over Smith.
The team also signed linebacker JoJo Dickson. Dickson was signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars as an undrafted free agent in 2011, but was waived last July. He signed with the Jaguars again last month, but was waived again shortly thereafter. Dickson was signed with linebacker Andrew Sweat being placed on the reserve/retired list.
