McCoy Interviewed on Dan Patrick Show

Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy had an interview Friday morning on the Dan Patrick Show, which was transcribed by Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 The Fan. Patrick tried to pry some information from McCoy regarding the team's "quarterback competition," but McCoy really would not budge. Most of his comments conveyed the same thing he said a few weeks ago, which was that he's been told he'll be given a chance to compete. After hearing the interview, though, Ruiter says that McCoy did "cringe" at one point near the end of the segment:

Patrick, who is a studio host for NBC’s Sunday night games, playfully asked McCoy when he’s doing highlights this fall which quarterback for the Browns will he be saying in them? The question clearly made McCoy cringe.

"I would love to be able to read the future," McCoy said. "I would love to. To be honest, I’m doing everything that I can do. I’m competing but let’s just keep it about the team right now and come fall I think we’ll know who our quarterback is."

Meanwhile, SB Nation had an article a few days ago that highlighted all of the quarterback competitions that will be going on throughout the league. Here's what they said about Cleveland's, even if it really isn't expected to be much of a competition:

Cleveland Browns: Brandon Weeden vs. Colt McCoy

The Browns flirted with other quarterbacks in the offseason but apparently had their sights set on Weeden the entire time. That, plus a few other comments from the Browns brass, has us thinking Weeden is the likely starter entering the season.

The Browns are clearly ready to move on from McCoy, who has seen trade rumors involving his name this offseason. They will roll with Weeden, the future, in September.

Predicted winner: The future is now with Brandon Weeden in Cleveland.
