Browns Week in Review: June 3 - June 9

Are you ready for a brief snapshot of what happened during the past week related to the Cleveland Browns (or important NFL news), particularly at the team's three-day minicamp session? After the jump is a recap from the week of June 3 - June 9.

  • Sunday, June 3rd: The week started off with some big news, as fans (at least for now) breathed a sigh of relief that we don't have to watch our organization deal with wide receiver Justin Blackmon, who was driving under the influence. ... Terry Pluto continued discussing what looks to be a hot topic this offseason, and that is whether Montario Hardesty will make the club or not.
  • Monday, June 4th: An arbitrator ruled in favor of the NFL in the bounty case, which was a blow to appealing players such as Scott Fujita, but not the final straw. ... Leroy Kelly Jr. received his tryout with the Browns on Monday, but left without an offer by the team.
  • Tuesday, June 5th: Bernie19Kosar brought up a hot topic when polling members about their "top 10 greatest players of all time" lists. ... The Browns began Day 1 of minicamp, which was the first under head coach Pat Shurmur. ... Shurmur said that Trent Richardson, Hardesty, and Brandon Jackson would all get their reps this season, but he also had Hardesty working on special teams. ... Brandon Weeden showed off his arm right away, while Colt McCoy seemed to stick with the short stuff. ... Safety Eric Hagg continued to play with the first stringers and drew positive reviews. ... It marked Phil Dawson's first appearance of the season.
  • Wednesday, June 6th: After attending camp for two days, Jamison Hensley of ESPN said the wide receiver position remained a "glaring weakness" for the Browns. ... At least on Day 2 of minicamp, the local media seemed to agree that the receivers did not have the greatest of practices. ... Shurmur talked about bringing the fade pass back to the offense some more in the red zone, and whether the team will try to name a starting quarterback soon.
  • Thursday, June 7th: Day 3 of minicamp was the final mandatory session for the players until training camp begins in late July. ... Hensley (from ESPN) went into more details about his comment about the Browns' weakness at receiver. ... We looked at Shurmur's final news conference of minicamp, where he talked more about when a starting quarterback will be named, what is left to do before training camp, how many wide receivers he likes to keep, and more
  • Friday, June 8th: Cleveland fans discussed what their favorite Browns moments of all-time were. If you haven't chimed in yet, head on over and do so!
  • Saturday, June 9th: There wasn't much news in the world of Browns football today, but it was a big day for horse racing, NHL, and NBA fans. As I write this post, I'm sure many Cleveland fans are hoping the Heat do not reach the NBA Finals.
