The two players who were notably absent from the field on Friday were defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin and tight end Evan Moore. On Saturday, Mary Kay Cabot from the Plain Dealer had updates on both of their conditions. According to Cabot, Rubin had surgery on a slight pelvic tear six weeks ago.
Thankfully, it is believed that Rubin will only miss about two weeks of practice. In the mean time, Brian Schaefering and Scott Paxson are working as the defensive tackles on the first-team defense, and we might see rookies John Hughes and Billy Winn thrown in there soon.
As a result of his injury, Rubin, along with DT Phil Taylor and FB Eddie Williams, have been placed on the active/physically unable to perform list. They can come off that list at any time during camp.
Moore was placed on the active/non-football injury list, which means he must have suffered an injury during one of his offseason workouts. Moore's injury has not been disclosed at this point, but it is believed that he will be back relatively soon as well. We'll have a full Day 2 report on training camp as more news comes along.
