Cleveland Browns running back Trent Richardson was on ESPN 850 WKNR with the Hooligans on Thursday to talk about his football camp coming up from July 14-15 at Strongsville High School. The camp is for Boys and Girls from ages 7-14, and the cost is $149. If you use the promo code "TR" at registration, you'll get $20 off. Besides what he'll be doing at the football camp, Richardson was also asked to reflect on minicamp, the high expectations surrounding him this season, and his contract situation -- pretty standard stuff.
The question I liked came toward the end of the interview, when Richardson was asked who the most intimidating (in a good way, like a badass) member of the team was after meeting everyone in minicamp. Richardson decided to name two players. The first one was obvious: Joe Thomas. The second one was a little surprising. At first, it sounded like Richardson kept saying "O'Neal." Richardson was referencing both players by saying other players would state, "I'm not messing with this guy today," or "I'd hate to be the defensive lineman going against him. You'd be like, man, 'what did I get myself into?'"
Listening to the interview, I started wondering, "man, who is this O'Neal guy we have in camp?" The host then surprisingly asked, "really? Oniel Cousins?" Richardson said that this is his first year seeing Cousins, but that teammates were making comments like, "Man, look at Oniel this year" and "What's gotten into 'Big Oniel'?" Richardson said he can't wait to run behind someone like that on gameday.
Rookie right tackle Mitchell Schwartz is expected to start ahead of Cousins this year, but if Cousins is extremely motivated and looks like a monster all of a sudden, maybe we'll end up having a little competition on our hands to kick off the year.
