Browns LB Chris Gocong Expected to be Ready for 2013 Season

During the introductory press conference of defensive coordinator Ray Horton Tuesday morning, Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski provided an update on the status of linebacker Chris Gocong, who tore his Achilles in training camp last season.

Gocong has experience in both the 4-3 and the 3-4 defense, and he was drafted in 2006 at the same time Joe Banner was with the Eagles organization. It's hard to pinpoint the exact impact he'll have this coming season, but it would seem as though he has the type of versatility that Horton is looking for. One thing to note is this: the Browns are paying Gocong a pretty hefty salary, so if they retain him, I doubt he's going to sit on the bench. At a $4.5 million base salary in 2013, he will make three times the amount of Craig Robertson, James-Michael Johnson, and L.J. Fort...combined.
