Cleveland Browns Press Conference Open Thread - The Firing of Rob Chudzinski

The Browns' upper management will have some explaining to do.

Eric P. Mull-US PRESSWIRE

The Cleveland Browns are scheduled to hold a press conference at 12:30 PM EST to discuss the firing of head coach Rob Chudzinski (see all of our coverage here). From the news we have gathered, it is believed that CEO Joe Banner and owner Jimmy Haslam will be the ones holding the press conference, where they should elaborate on the decision that was made. It is not known whether they will field questions or not.

At 8:00 AM EST, the front office reportedly met with the assistant coaches, to which Mary Kay Cabot of the Plain Dealer relayed the following information:

Browns CEO Joe Banner met with the assistant coaches this morning and told them they'd receive permission to interview with other clubs on a case-by-case basis, a source told cleveland.com. The Browns new head coach will have the flexibility to hire his own staff, and won't be required to retain any of the current assistants, including offensive coordinator Norv Turner or defensive coordinator Ray Horton.

Within the hour, the players in the Browns' locker room were made available to the media. Use this open thread to discuss the upcoming press conference with Banner and Haslam, and then later on, we will have a recap of what was said.
