With the 16th pick in the 2013 Dawgs By Nature NFL Community Mock Draft, the St. Louis Rams select...
Tavon Austin, WR/HB/KR, West Virginia

Tavon Austin is ridiculous. He is the draft’s premiere playmaker. I’ll be honest: I don’t think there’s a team in the NFL that wouldn't look great with Austin as part of their offense. For the Rams specifically, I highlighted four needs once I became Mock GM: Receiver, OT, Guard, and Safety. After recently inking Jake Long, tackle gets pushed to the bottom of the list. With Warmack off the board, I can wait until later for a guard. The draft’s best safety is also gone. As for receiver, the Rams have added Jared Cook but are still looking at a whole lot of question marks with Danny Amendola and Brandon Gibson departed for greener pastures. This was a team ranked 25th in the league in scoring WITH these players.
Thanks to the RG3 trade, I have another first rounder coming at 22. Austin was the only player I was too scared to wait six picks for. He’s already scheduled workouts with five teams, including the Bengals waiting before 22. Adam Schefter promised he wouldn't make it to the Vikings. Greg Cosell considers him top ten talent. Not only am I happy to take him at 16, but I’m wondering if I need to start worrying about someone else jumping in front of me as we get closer to April. I think of his potential use in Jeff Fisher's offense as pieces of Darren Sproles, Randall Cobb, and Reggie Bush. If I’m Sam Bradford, I’m pretty happy with the way this offseason has turned out so far.
I have been harsh on Sam Bradford, but this is the year that St. Louis can offer him a lot of help when it comes to playmakers. Everyone here knows how much of a fan I was of Jared Cook. After losing their top receivers from last year, getting someone fresh like Austin makes for a nice pick. The Rams have the luxury to be flexible, too, since they have another pick coming up at No. 22 overall.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are up next, led by HenryDawg.
