Is Brandon Bogotay our replacement for Phil Dawson?
The Cleveland Browns signed Bogotay to a contract on Monday. He played for the University of Georgia from 2009 to 2011, but here's the kicker (pun intended): he really didn't kick very much for them. As a backup to Blair Walsh, he was 0-of-1 in 2010, and 1-of-2 in 2011. He did handle kickoff duties here and there. Beyond that, there really isn't a lot of information on him yet. As far as I can tell, he did was not invited to an NFL training camp last year. He must have done something in a tryout that was more impressive than the other recent kickers who worked out, though.
At this point, I'd say there is no reason to believe that Bogotay will be the team's kicker during 2013 season. The Browns could be poised to draft a kicker, or, if push comes to shove, there are still a few veteran kickers they can sign off the street.
