2013 DBN Mock Draft: Denver Broncos Select Barkevious Mingo at No. 28

Joe Robbins

With the 28th pick in the 2013 Dawgs By Nature NFL Community Mock Draft, the Denver Broncos select...

Barkevious Mingo, WR, California

This selection and write-up was made by KillerNut:

First off, let me say that the Broncos will most likely not make the selection here. They are in prime position to trade back and gather future picks. I suspect that a few teams will fall in love with either Barkley or Manuel, and will overpay to get one of the two. Furthermore, the Broncos are a pretty complete team as it is, and do not really need to fill any significant deficiencies in the first round.

With all of that being said (plus the fact that I love Brock Oswiler; though not really relevant he's 6'7" and a has cannon with accuracy -- I would trade for him in a heartbeat), Mingo makes the most sense here. First, he is a raw talent kind of guy who could be developed inside of an already-stout defense. Second, he can fill a position of "weakness" thanks to faulty agents/fax machines and the fallout they cause. And lastly, when considering the best player available, this pick was mostly made for me. I am forced to conclude that the rest of the "GMs" were too busy trying to act intelligent that they all forgot to look at who was available.

Regarding what he can do for the team, he can be a piece for both the present and the future of the defense. He makes a great complement piece to Von Miller. And almost more importantly, he is not going to get in the way of what was already in place in Denver. His impact could be marginal to non-existent next season, and nobody would care at all. (Plus I think that John Elway is a fan of fun names, and if he cannot find a trade might just pick Mingo because it is fun to say).

To conclude concisely, there is no real reason to make any pick if you are the Denver Broncos, but twist my arm and don't let me trade, and a player like Mingo doesn't look so bad.

I don't know if I agree that "there's no real reason for Denver to make a pick here." Trading back isn't always the right way to go, and Denver should jump at an opportunity to add a guy like Mingo if he is still on the board here.

The New England Patriots are up next, led by roar888.
