Saturday night, we came up with a list of 22 undrafted free agents who the Cleveland Browns appeared to be signing. At the time, the reports were unconfirmed, as they were based on players reporting their signing status on Twitter. On Tuesday, the Browns released a list of the players they had signed, but there were only 18 players on that list. What happened to the other four?

First, let's confirm which players were signed to contracts: FB Garrett Hoskins, RB Jamaine Cooke, WR Perez Ashford, WR Dominique Croom, WR Cordell Roberson, WR Michael Edwards, WR Keenan Davis, OT Aaron Adams, OT Chris Faulk, OT Martin Wallace, OG Caylin Hauptmann, C Braxston Cave, TE Travis Tannahill, DT David Kruger, DE Paipai Falemalu, DE Justin Staples, CB Josh Aubrey, and SS Ricky Tunstall.

Here are the four players who were not signed, despite being initially rumored on our list from Saturday:

  • QB Ryan Aplin - He did not sign due to a medical reason, but has been invited to the Washington Redskins' rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.
  • ILB Mike Niam - The Hudson native is receiving a tryout at the Browns' rookie minicamp from May 10-12. He grew up a Browns fan. It's possible that he was not signed right off the bat due to a medical issue.
  • SS Ryan McWethy - Just like Niam, McWethy has been invited to the Browns' rookie minicamp from May 10-12 on a tryout basis.
  • SS Kenronte Walker - There's really no word on what happened to Walker. Based on the reports saying he was "signed" and him not being on the list the Browns released, my guess is that he has also been invited to rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.

We'll keep an eye on which if these undrafted free agents end up being the next L.J. Fort, Tashaun Gipson, or Johnson Bademosi.
