Gone are the days of Romeo Crennel, Eric Mangini, Pat Shurmur, or Brad Childress standing on the sidelines woefully as the offense looks inept. Now, we have a fiery Norv Turner holding people accountable for their actions...and he's just the offensive coordinator! Turner was reportedly very vocal on Thursday in front of the media.
Daryl Ruiter from 92.3 the Fan said that Turner started going off on the unit when they lined up wrong, but that Rob Chudzinski calmed him down so they could carry on with practice. On one hand, you could view the reports of Turner's actions as over-the-top. That doesn't seem to be how the offense is handling it, though. They seem to "get" the respect that Turner commands and are appreciative of it because they know he is trying to stress perfection.
"He coaches me every play, and I can't ask any more than that," said quarterback Brandon Weeden. "He expects the highest level out of me, and that’s what I want. He's making me a better player. He apologized. He blew a gasket, but it’s going to happen. That's football. You've got to be on your toes. You can't mess up."
The light-hearted comments that other players are making are indicative of the positive type of relationship that Turner has with them. Greg Little joked about Turner having a "double shot of espresso in the morning," while Joe Haden conveyed this gem:
Joe Haden on Norv Turner trash talk - "he says that to me every day; he's like 'Joe we're gonna double move u today; he just likes to talk"

I love that type of demeanor from a coach -- he knows enough to stroke your ego but get your goat at the same time.
