Until I read this article on 92.3 The Fan, I had just completely forgotten about the fact that not all of our draft picks have reached an agreement on a rookie contract. The Browns have signed two of their five draft picks -- S Jamoris Slaughter and OG Garrett Gilkey -- but the last signing came just about three weeks ago.
The players who still need to be signed include first-round OLB Barkevious Mingo, third-round CB Leon McFadden, and seventh-round pick DE Armonty Bryant. As Mingo told 92.3 The Fan at a youth camp this week, though, he isn't worried about there being any sort of a holdout:
"I’m pretty sure that it’ll be done with before then," Mingo said. "Not a big deal. [I'm] not even sweating it."
There is still plenty of time -- more than a month, in fact -- until training camp starts, so there really isn't a need to worry about it right now. If one or more of the picks remain unsigned by mid-July, though, then maybe a little bit of puzzlement can creep in.
