According to reports, the New York Jets are taking a look at a former Cleveland Browns tight end:
Free-agent tight end Kellen Winslow is invited to the Jets mini camp next week on tryout basis.

Earlier this offseason, there were rumors that the Browns might have an interest in Kellen Winslow due to his connection to new head coach Rob Chudzinski (and his former ties to the Browns). Last year was a rough offseason for Winslow. He was released at the start of the season by the Seahawks for not wanting to take a pay cut, and only spent a week with the Patriots before requesting his release. The rumor was that he requested his release because he felt he wouldn't receive enough playing time in New England to warrant the wear-and-tear that he would have to put his knee through.
If Winslow is looking for a place where he can become "the guy," then the Jets could definitely be the place. They lost Dustin Keller to the Miami Dolphins this offseason and basically have less tight end experience than the Browns do. Even though he'd be stuck with a mess of a quarterback situation, by the end of the Jets' mini camp, if he doesn't suffer an injury, I imagine he'll be signed.
The Browns face the Jets on the road in Week 16 of the regular season.
