Rob Chudzinski News Conference: Day 15 of Browns Training Camp

Ron Schwane-USA TODAY Sports

Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski met with the media following the team's twelfth day of training camp on Wednesday. Chudzinski talked about RB Montario Hardesty's injury, how he will handle RB Trent Richardson, and more. The transcript is organized by topic below, or you can watch the news conference here.

Our Day 15 report on what happened at camp is here.

Opening Statement - Injuries and Practice Agenda

Opening statement: "We will start with the injury report. We had some guys come back today. Jordan Norwood, Oniel Cousins and Chris Owens were back at work. Chris Owens got some work in some of the team periods, as well. Montario Hardesty injured his thumb. We will get a look at it when we get in and get more information for you tomorrow.

"It was another good day. We have been working against each other in practice. These three days have been an opportunity for us to get back to basics. We have a lot of work to do. Just being able to focus on the fundamentals has been good for us. This was a good day, as well, a little warmer than it’s been. Just seeing these guys push through and be able to push through practice is important as we are getting closer and closer to opening day."

Hardesty's Injury

On if he has a preliminary diagnosis on Hardesty: "I don’t. Other than he hurt his thumb. The ball hit his hand and he injured it."

On feeling bad for Hardesty: "It’s a tough deal. We will see what the status is and how soon he will be back."

Trent Richardson's Practice Regimen, and Brandon Jackson's Role

On disclosing a regimen for Trent Richardson: "We are going to talk tonight. I have an idea on what I want to get done. We will talk in detail. I will give you a little more outline for tomorrow overall on what we are going to do. A lot of it is going to depend, in terms of all the guys, where they are at from a health perspective. We have a lot of guys starting work this week and coming back so I will give you more detail the day before the game on those specific guys."

On Brandon Jackson: "Brandon has a good ability to run the football and has caught the ball well. He’s a guy you can’t forget about. It’s been good to see some of these guys get extra reps and opportunities with the situation and they have risen to the occasion and done well with their opportunities."

Loose Ends: Gordon's Development, Wildcat Offense, DQ's Day Off

On Josh Gordon’s development since last year: "I’ve been pleased with the progress he’s made. He’s really been battling through tendinitis in his knee and he has been pushing through that, which I like to see. He’s going in the right direction. Is he perfect? No, but he’s a developing player and a young guy that is learning what it takes and what he is going to need to do to be successful in this league."

On the Wildcat offense: "We’re just going to look and show everything that is in football."

On D’Qwell Jackson not participating in practice for resting purposes rather than injury: "Yeah, just rest."
