Originally, head coach Rob Chudzinski was considering giving the Cleveland Browns' first-teamers the start during Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears, with them seeing roughly 10-12 snaps of action. That led to LT Joe Thomas cracking to reporters that it has been a long time (2008, to be exact) since he's played in a fourth preseason game.

Thomas' streak will extend another year, though, as Chudzinski announced today that the regular starters will not play against the Bears. Here are the roster highlights to be aware of for Thursday's game:

  • At quarterback Jason Campbell will get the start, with Brandon Weeden having the final preseason game off for the second year in a row. That didn't work so well for him last year by the time the opener against Philly came. Brian Hoyer should see plenty of reps against the Bears to.

  • At wide receiver, Josh Gordon will play, presumably because he needs the work with the two-game suspension about to commence for him. Travis Benjamin will also see action at receiver and perhaps the return game; personally, I wouldn't play him in the return game this week.

  • At right guard, Oniel Cousins will start, and is considered the favorite to be in that position Week 1 against the Dolphins, according to Chudzinski. Cousins isn't a regular starter, though, which is why he doesn't have the luxury of being off.

  • On the defensive side of things, none of the opening day starters are expected to play, although it wouldn't be surprising to see CB Buster Skrine in there since he is still in a competition. OLB Quentin Groves will start, as will DE Billy Winn.
