According to ESPN's Ed Werder, Barkevious Mingo has been medically cleared for contact, and is expected to make his rookie debut Sunday against the Ravens.
Source says Browns LB Barkevious Mingo medically cleared for contact. Should practice and make NFL debut after bruised lung preseason— Ed Werder (@Edwerderespn) September 11, 2013
Mingo has been recovering from a bruised lung that has sidelined him since the preseason. Mingo was injured during the Lions preseason game and has been out since.
This is obviously good news for the Cleveland Browns, and their number 6 overall pick in the draft. The Browns front-seven and defensive line looked great Sunday, even without Mingo and Ahtyba Rubin (calf). Getting Mingo back will add another edge rusher to an already formidable front-seven.
Here's to hoping all goes well this week and he can make his debut Sunday.
UPDATE: Here is another report indicating positive news for Mingo:
Plan was to be cautious with Browns LB Barkevious Mingo (lung) out Week 1 to be ready for the rest of the season. Source: "He's ready. 100%"— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) September 11, 2013
