Report: Browns Hire Dowell Loggains, Have Moved on From Kyle Shanahan

Cleveland may have a quarterbacks coach on board, but still no offensive coordinator.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Cleveland Browns' meeting with Kyle Shanahan "did not go smoothly" on Wednesday, and that the team has moved on from considering him as their offensive coordinator.

"What I would think the Browns do, based on talking to people close to the situation, is go back and interview a couple more candidates," said Rapoport, regarding the team's vacant offensive coordinator spot. The Browns interviewed Raiders quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo on Thursday, but it doesn't sound like he was the winning candidate either.

In a unique twist to the Browns' offensive coaching staff, the assistants are getting hired before a coordinator:

Dowell Loggains was the Titans' offensive coordinator last year. It was believed that Bill Callahan, the Cowboys' offensive line coach, was Cleveland's top target to be offensive coordinator, but Dallas blocked any teams from interviewing him since he's still under contract. Reports indicate that Loggains will likely be the Browns' quarterbacks coach.
