For most of the season, Cleveland Browns fans were hoping that the Indianapolis Colts would fail to make the playoffs in order to improve the team's other first-round draft choice that they acquired for RB Trent Richardson at the beginning of the season.
The Colts made the playoffs, though, and early in the third quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs, things were looking good for Cleveland: Indianapolis was losing by a score of 38-10. Of course, as one should expect for Cleveland's luck, the Colts had a remarkable comeback to win 45-44 and advance to the next round of the playoffs.
Heading into the playoffs, we knew that Indianapolis' draft pick would have been somewhere between No. 21 and No. 32 overall. When the Chiefs led by 28 points, it looked like a sure thing that the Browns would be picking between No. 21 and No. 24 (depending on how the rest of the Wildcard Weekend unfolded). Now that the Colts have moved on to the Divisional Round of the playoffs, the best we can hope for is No. 25 overall. If the Colts are eliminated next week, the worst we could get is No. 28 overall.
Cleveland's other draft pick is set at No. 4 overall. However, if they want to package a couple of picks together to move up, it doesn't help that the value of their other pick keeps declining (although it is still a bargain, considering the lack of production that Richardson has provided for the Colts).
