Cleveland Browns vs. Jacksonville Jaguars - 3rd Quarter Game Thread

Richard Dole-USA TODAY Sports

After the Jaguars approached midfield to start the second quarter, the Browns' pass defense forced another punt, with Jacksonville pinning Cleveland back at the 9 yard line. I feel like I'm going on a broken record here: Cleveland punted, and then Jacksonville punted.

Cleveland finally made progress on their next drive with several first downs, including two third-down conversions. After having 1st-and-goal at the 4 yard line, though, the Browns couldn't get any closer and had to settle for a 20-yard field goal to go up 6-0.

On the Browns' next drive, FS Tashaun Gipson picked off another pass by QB Blake Bortles, his second of the day. Cleveland started in Jaguars territory near the end of the second quarter. After a couple of bad runs by RB Terrance West, the Browns made a poor decision to pass on a field goal attempt on 4th and a long 1. After the incompletion with under a minute to go, the Jaguars picked up chunks of 16, 24, and 31 yards, the latter of which was a touchdown from Bortles to WR Allen Robinson. Just like that, the Jaguars have a 7-6 lead heading into the half, and they will get the ball first in the third quarter.

This should be a 9-0 game at halftime, but now the Browns find themselves behind. Can they play sharper in the second half like they've done twice this year on the road to put Jacksonville away?
