The Bengals ran the ball down the throat of the Browns' defense to begin the second quarter, and RB Jeremy Hill's 16-yard touchdown run gave the Bengals a 17-0 lead with 13 minutes to play in the half. The Browns were in desperate need of something offensively after not getting a single first down in their first two drives.
The Browns got their first first down off of a penalty, but then QB Johnny Manziel was picked off when he floated a sideline pass to WR Andrew Hawkins, giving the Bengals the ball in Cleveland territory again (with CB Joe Haden sidelined). The defense held Cincinnati to a 44-yard field goal attempt, which K Mike Nugent hit to give the Bengals a whopping 20-0 lead.
The Browns' offense went three-and-out again as Manziel's third-down scramble pass for TE Jim Dray was too high. The Bengals were driving again, but then QB Andy Dalton threw an interception to ILB Craig Robertson. The Browns went for it on 4th-and-1 in Cincinnati territory, and picked up the first down with a run. Manziel had a high throw picked off, but it was waived off due to an offsides flag. With the Browns in field goal range and under two minutes to play, Manziel heaved a pass on 3rd-and-4 as he was about to be tackled, and CB Pacman Jones intercepted it in the end zone for a touchback.
The Bengals head into halftime with a 20-0 lead. Cleveland's offense looks like a chaotic mess, the defense can't stop the run, and our secondary is banged up. Can anything go right in the second half? Cleveland will get the ball first.
