The Cleveland Browns sit in last place in the AFC North with a 7-7 record. You wouldn't know it from the NFL Pro Bowl fan vote.
Nine Browns players finished as the leading vote-getters at their position. Only the Packers came close with five.
The fan vote concluded on Monday, and was announced via a press release on Wednesday. The fan vote is just one-third of the selection process, as players and coaches will vote on December 19, making up the other two-thirds of the vote.
Here are the Browns' top vote-getters:
- OT Joe Thomas (342,845)
- OG Joel Bitonio (274,535)
- OLB Paul Kruger (246,652)
- ILB Karlos Dansby (293,773)
- CB Joe Haden (407,248)
- FS Tashaun Gipson (342,596)
- SS Donte Whitner (237,199)
- P Spencer Lanning (146,237)
- ST Johnson Bademosi (189,206)
Since eight Browns players led the vote on December 11, the only surprise was Kruger sneaking onto the list. The second-year Browns linebacker currently has 41 total tackles and 10 sacks.
For the second consecutive year, the voting is "unconferenced." In other words, the top six players from each position will be chosen regardless of conference. As stated in the press release, "The 2015 Pro Bowl players will be revealed exclusively on NFL Network on Tuesday, December 23 at 8:00 PM ET on the "NFL Total Access: Pro Bowl Players Revealed" show."
The 2015 Pro Bowl will be held on January 25, 2015 at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona, the site of Super Bowl XLIX.
Once the All-Stars have been chosen, a Fantasy Football-style draft will be held on NFL Network. Stay tuned to see which Browns players are selected for the Pro Bowl.
