While Cleveland's defense continued playing strong at the start of the second half, their offensive miscues continued with a holding penalty on RT Mitchell Schwartz and then a sack given up by LT Joe Thomas before having to punt. The Ravens then moved the ball down the field again, getting into the red zone with a big run by RB Justin Forsett. Cleveland's defense held tough again, holding Baltimore to a 25-yard field goal to take a 3-0 lead.
The Browns next drive got a spark with a shifty 36-yard run by RB Terrance West, a season long run for Cleveland. QB Connor Shaw converted a 4th-and-2 and then improvised on another pass to RB Isaiah Crowell to get down near the 10 yard line. After Shaw took a sack on third down, K Garrett Hartley kicked a 38-yard field goal to tie the game at 3-3.
During the Ravens' two-minute drill, the Ravens were knocking on the door of field goal range but OLB Paul Kruger stripped QB Joe Flacco of the ball. Baltimore recovered, but for a net loss of 22 yards, forcing a punt. With a minute to play, the Browns took a knee to go into the half still tied 3-3.
