Who is ready for minicamp?
The Cleveland Browns' voluntary minicamp will commence on Tuesday, April 29th, and will run through Thursday, May 1st. The players' practice uniforms are all ready-to-go, as evidenced by this photo on the team's Twitter feed:

With this being a three-day minicamp and the team only having two quarterbacks on the roster -- Brian Hoyer and Alex Tanney -- the team decided to bring in two veterans for a tryout. Those veterans are Vince Young and Tyler Thigpen, both of whom have been out of the league for at least a year but have had some level of success in the NFL. The minicamp will serve as an audition for both players, and the team could end up signing one of them. Or, the team could simply be using them as "camp arms," considering they will probably draft one or two quarterbacks during the 2014 NFL Draft.
This voluntary minicamp marks Phase 2 of the NFL's Collective Bargaining Agreement. Here is a summary of what can take place during Phase 2 over the next several weeks:
- All coaches will be allowed on the field.
- No contact is permitted.
- There can be no one-on-one offense vs. defense drills.
- The offense can run team drills against the defense, provided there is no contact. The same stipulation applies to special teams drills.
Here is the remainder of the team's schedule over the next few weeks:
Voluntary Minicamp: April 29-May 1
OTA Offseason Workouts: May 20-21, May 23, May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, June 5-6
Mandatory Minicamp: June 10-12
