2014 DBN Mock Draft: Cleveland Browns Select WR Allen Robinson at No. 26

Matthew O'Haren-USA TODAY Sports

With the 26th pick in the 2014 Dawgs By Nature Community Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select...

Allen Robinson, WR, Penn State

This selection and write-up was made by StuckInPa:

First, let me thank Ryan216 for taking Johnny Manziel with our first pick. I didn't even want to have to think about taking a QB with 26. Also, thanks to him for letting me take our second pick. This is the first time I'm doing one of these, so here goes:

Now, I'll admit it, I'm a homer, but that doesn't mean Robinson isn't legit. It'd be nice to go straight BPA here, but the best CBs are off the board and I couldn't bring myself to take DL or OL at the end of round 1, what with our offensive scheme change and our already good DL depth. I wanted a little more impact. We've had to watch Greg "Stonehands" Little for too long now, and with the recent run on WRs, I felt like this was the way to go. The WR depth in this draft is outstanding and there's a number of good WRs likely available at the end of round 1, but after seeing Robinson first hand for the past couple years, I couldn't pass on the chance to get him in Brown and Orange and continue to root for him.

I'd expect Robinson to beat out Little and Burleson in camp, and there's no way we go more than halfway through the season without him taking over the #2 WR spot. He would be the perfect compliment to Gordon. He's big, strong, a good run blocker, and with a 39" vertical he attacks the ball at its highest point. If he starts the season, I imagine he'll get about 650-750 yards receiving. It's nothing crazy to expect out of a rookie and it's more than any other Redskins reciever not named Garcon has accounted for, but Robinson is also more talented than the rest of that group. I actually expect him to have more of a DeAndre Hopkins type impact than anything seen from the Redskins (in production of course, he's not as fast).

Let me just say, I would be one happy Browns fan going into next season with JFF and a 1-2-3 punch of Gordon, Cameron, and Robinson.

Browns fans might not agree with this pick completely, perhaps because he could have been there at No. 35 overall. That's the unfortunate situation that StuckInPa is in, though -- although he's drafting for the Browns at No. 26, he isn't the person selecting at No. 35.

Since rufio's DBN community big board was just published, let's take a look at the people who were still available ahead of Robinson:

21. Xavier Su'a-Filo
22. Marqise Lee
25. Zach Martin
27. Bradley Roby
29. Kelvin Benjamin
30. Jordan Matthews
31. David Yankey
32. Jimmy Garoppolo
33. Kony Ealy
35. Dee Ford
36. Louis Nix III
37. Allen Robinson

From a positional standpoint, I don't mind going wide receiver here. Overall, fans ranked Lee, Benjamin, and Matthews ahead of Robinson. I would have gone with Lee or Matthews, but a receiver is a receiver at this point in the draft, and we added another necessary weapon offensively.

The New Orleans Saints are up next, led by Adam Rice.
