Browns Trying Out 35 Players at Rookie Minicamp, Including Two WR's With Kyle Shanahan Connections

The Cleveland Browns released a list to the local media today of the 35 players who are participating in rookie minicamp on a tryout basis. This is in addition to 26 other players who were there between the team's draft picks, undrafted free agents who were signed to the 90-man roster, and some first-year players who are already on the Browns' roster.

Cleveland's roster currently stands at 89 players -- the 1 open spot came when they released WR Greg Little. If they are impressed by any of the 35 players trying out, the team will sign them to a deal. If there is more than one player that they want, then expect there to be some more releases announced.

There are a couple of veteran receivers on the tryout list: Anthony Armstrong and Dezmon Briscoe. Both players have the Kyle Shanahan connection -- they were with him in Washington for a period of time. Some fans will recognize the name Larry Grant on the tryout list, since he was a former Ohio State Buckeye. He was a 7th-round draft pick by the Rams in 2008. A lot of the players tryout out are really just there so the team has enough camp bodies to run through some drills, but we'll see if a few players shine enough to warrant a signing.
