Results of the 2014 DBN Mock Draft Picks

Before the draft, 6 staff members from Dawgs By Nature, as well as the community, put together a mock draft. A week removed from the draft, I went off the scoring system that The Huddle Report uses to grade mock drafts, where you get 1 point if the player you picked was drafted at least somewhere in the first round, and you get an additional 2 points if you matched that player with the team that chose them. The results are listed below:

First-Round Results Only

  1. 33 points: Zach Miller
  2. 30 points: Jon Stinchcomb
  3. 29 points: Chris Pokorny, DBN Community
  4. 28 points: rufio, Josh Finney
  5. 26 points: Matt Wood

It is very possible that I made errors since there were a lot of picks to go through and it was difficult to match things up with all of the trades that occurred. To see everyone's picks and scores together, here is the Excel file I made.

Unfortunately, our scores were pretty bad again compared to some of the members of the national media. One of the things that docked a point from our staff members' picks was them switching away from QB Johnny Manziel at the last second. I was the only staff member to stick with Manziel and net the extra point. Dan Kadar, one of the better mock drafters who runs Mocking the Draft at SB Nation, scored a 36.

Our mock drafts also went from picks 1-35. The scores are pretty much the same in terms of rankings, but I listed those scores below --  a couple of our guys picked OL Joel Bitonio to the Browns at No. 35 overall.

Accounting for Picks 1-35

  2. 35 points: Jon Stinchcomb
  3. 32 points: Chris Pokorny
  4. 31 points: DBN Community
  5. 30 points: rufio, Matt Wood, Josh Finney
