One down, five to go. The Cleveland Browns signed their first draft pick of the year on Thursday: CB Pierre Desir. Taken in the 4th round at No. 127 overall, Desir agreed to a four-year deal. According to OverTheCap's pre-determined draft chart, Desir's contract will be worth about $2.63 million, with a $407,612 signing bonus.
Because the Browns traded all of their picks away in rounds 5-7, Desir was actually the team's final draft pick, and he was a highly acclaimed one at that. There are questions as to whether he'll be able to adjust to the faster speed of the game at the NFL level, but since he'll be fourth on the depth chart, he'll have plenty of time to develop. He's also a high character player with a back-story that makes you want to root for him.
