2014 DBN Mock Draft: Cleveland Browns Select OG Xavier Su'a-Filo at No. 35

Very torn between him and Timmy Jernigan. I think Jernigan is BPA right now, but Su'a-Filo is number 2 in my eyes right now looking at the board, and fills an offensive lineman need (which I think is much greater) for the Cleveland Browns.

Great character kid with no injury history. Has played both Guard and Tackle-albeit not great at LT. Good pass blocker, even better run blocker (and the Browns haven't had many of those at the G position since Steinbach).

I think he would excel in Kyle Shanahan's zone blocking scheme because of his athleticism (which is why David Yankey isn't a pick here). We saw the garbage fire our offensive line was outside of Mack and Thomas last year, so the more athletic bodies in The Browns offensive scheme, the better.

As long as he stays healthy and continues to develop his strength, I see no reason why he would not be The Brownies opening day starter at LG or RG. At the worst scenario, he would be both a G and RT backup. And as always, Here We Go Brownies...

I know one thing: I'm not torn about this pick, and the right selection was made with Su'a-Filo. He became available by virtue of OL Zack Martin falling so far in the draft (to the Broncos at No. 31 overall). With three different people drafting for the Browns, Cleveland ended up with QB Johnny Manziel, WR Allen Robinson, and OG Xavier Su'a-Filo. That's a great haul. The only thing that would have made it better (for me) is substituting Robinson for WR Marqise Lee.
