The 2014 NFL Draft officially begins for the Cleveland Browns and the rest of the teams in the NFL at 8:00 PM ET. This is a continuation of the LIVE BLOG we've been running all day up until this point. Now that we are less than an hour away from things kicking off, it is fitting to start fresh with our live blog. You should also use the comments section as your NFL Draft open thread! (Newest updates will be at the top of the live blog below)
Browns NFL Draft Live Blog
[WE HAVE CONTINUED OUR ROUND ONE LIVE BLOG HERE]
9:38 PM: With the No. 13 overall pick, the St. Louis Rams selected DT Aaron Donald. If the Browns want to move ahead of the Cowboys at No. 16 to take QB Johnny Manziel, they are running out of options. The Bears pick at No. 14 overall, and the Steelers are at No. 15 overall. I can't see them swinging a trade with Pittsburgh in round one.
9:35 PM: It's getting hard to keep track of all of this! The Giants took WR Odell Beckham Jr. at No. 12 overall. The Rams are on the clock at No. 13 overall right now.
9:32 PM: Could there still be hope?
Buzz building Browns are trying to get in front of Dallas for Manziel.

9:30 PM: Ha, this is cute:

9:26 PM: So, who did the Browns want at No. 11? The Titans ended up taking OT Taylor Lewan with that pick. Before that, the Lions took TE Eric Ebron at No. 10 overall, and the Minnesota Vikings took OLB Anthony Barr at No. 9 overall.
Cleveland made a strong effort to trade up again to No. 11 just now. But ultimately, Browns just bailed. Titans picking.

9:18 PM: Our post on CB Justin Gilbert is now up.
9:05 PM: ...and the Browns' pick at No. 8 overall is CB Justin Gilbert. On the surface, I really don't know why you trade up one spot to get him...were we really worried about somebody else getting Gilbert? Going defense first will not make some fans happy, but we knew that cornerback was a real possibility in the first round for Cleveland, just not this early.
9:03 PM: The Minnesota Vikings were on the clock at No. 8 overall, but then the Cleveland Browns traded up one spot to be on the clock. The Browns gave up a 5th round pick (No. 145 overall) to move up.
9:00 PM: The Buccaneers' pick came in without them using up all of their time. At No. 7 overall, Tampa Bay selected WR Mike Evans. The current rumors on the Internet are saying that the Browns will be targeting either CB Justin Gilbert or CB Darqueze Dennard at No. 9 overall.
8:52 PM: Moderate relief -- the Atlanta Falcons selected OT Jake Matthews at No. 6 overall, which means the Browns will not take an offensive tackle at No. 9 (unless they take Taylor Lewan, which would kill all the buzz that was just built up).
8:50 PM: Something to ponder: the Browns might not have two first-round picks in 2015 by the end of the day. They could use one of those picks to move up and have three first-round picks in 2014. We'll see if anything develops on that front.
8:46 PM: Here is our post on the Browns' trade. Awesome value by Farmer. Meanwhile, the Raiders picked OLB Khalil Mack at No. 5 overall.
8:38 PM: The Bills just took WR Sammy Watkins, but holy crap, what a trade for Ray Farmer! They just picked up the Bills' first rounder for next year!
Bills on the clock now, incredible ... Lots of action. Browns get Bills' ninth pick, their 2015 first-rounder and 2015 fourth-rounder.

8:35 PM: WOW! The Browns have traded with the Buffalo Bills and are dropping down to No. 9 overall. Regarding the trade with Buffalo, that's the Mike Pettine connection that helped. We'll see what Cleveland got in return.
8:33 PM: The Jacksonville Jaguars are the first team to stray from the script, as they selected QB Blake Bortles! Yes, that's right -- the same team that reached on Blaine Gabbert a few years ago (and failed) have done it again. Bortles has more potential I think, but it's still interesting to look at it that way. Who in the hell do the Browns take? They have their choice of Johnny Manziel, Sammy Watkins, Mike Evans, and Khalil Mack. They could have trade partners for teams who want Mack.
8:24 PM: The St. Louis Rams also decided to stay put at No. 2 overall, where they drafted OT Greg Robinson. Unless the Browns opt to take OT Jake Matthews, we can rule offensive tackle out for the Browns with their top pick. The Jacksonville Jaguars are now on the clock, and they could be looking at a quarterback or OLB Khalil Mack, you would think.
8:14 PM: The Houston Texans stayed at No. 1 overall, and as expected, they drafted DE Jadeveon Clowney. He was the top player on my personal big board, and QB Johnny Manziel is my next-ranked guy. We'll see what the Rams decide to do now that they are on the clock.
8:00 PM: It's draft time! Here is the Browns' set-up in New York:

7:55 PM: A few early murmurs are saying that the Houston Texans are going to take DE Jadeveon Clowney with the first pick in the draft. We'll know for certain in a couple of minutes!
7:48 PM: The butterflies are building in everyone's stomach! We're about 10 minutes away from getting this thing started! The rumors in this hour leading up to the draft have been pretty light.
7:38 PM: Pumpkinhead is repping the Browns at Radio City Music Hall in New York!

7:35 PM: This is an awesome feature that SB Nation has going: keep track of all the first round picks live on their draft tracker, and listen to their pre- and post-draft show.
7:32 PM: Earlier, Pro Football Talk had some notes on the Top 10 picks. All they said for Cleveland was, "All signs are pointing to tackle Jake Matthews." Seriously? I doubt it...but we'll see.
7:28 PM: We're just a little over a half hour away from the start of the first round! The rumors keep swirling that the Browns will be involved in a trade up, a trade down, or both during the first round. I've seen a lot of collective reports referencing the fact that Cleveland wants a cornerback if they trade up from No. 26, which could indicate CB Justin Gilbert, CB Darqueze Dennard, or CB Kyle Fuller.
A position to watch if the #Browns trade back from 4 or up from 26? CB. Mike Pettine wants a tough playmaker opposite Joe Haden

7:00 PM: You can quickly catch up on all of today's live blog from before 7 PM right here. The Cleveland Browns have the No. 4 overall pick as things stand right now. Teams have ten minutes to make their first-round selections.
If the Browns stay put, the latest they would begin to be on the clock would be from 8:30 PM - 8:40 PM. However, if teams pick quicker, and someone probably will, it could end up being a little earlier that we're on the clock. Don't chance it -- make sure you're watching TV, listening to a radio, or following DBN for all of the latest!
