It is Friday, and later tonight, rounds 2-3 in the 2014 NFL Draft will take place for the Cleveland Browns and the rest of the teams in the NFL. Because there are two rounds, it starts a little earlier today -- 7:00 PM ET. Teams will have 7 minutes to pick in round 2, and only 5 minutes to pick in round three.
We will have all of your Browns-related coverage on the draft here at Dawgs By Nature throughout the weekend. There will be individual posts about each draft pick that Cleveland makes, or any other relevant news. This thread will act as a "live blog" of sorts, with short one-liners about the latest small rumors, picks, or trades involving Cleveland or other NFL teams. You should also use the comments section as your NFL Draft open thread! (Newest updates will be at the top of the live blog below)

[OUR ROUND 2 LIVE BLOG / OPEN THREAD HAS MOVED HERE]
4:40 PM: Amazing. The Browns draft Manziel, and now even the NFL marketing gurus associate Cleveland hats with the ones they want to sell:

4:30 PM: I just saw these posted from last night, but they are text messages from AFC North coaches about QB Johnny Manziel:
Text from AFC North coach on Johnny Manziel: "He will fall into the same trap that Brady Quinn fell into... He's going to get exposed."
— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) May 9, 2014
Another coach in division texted this on Manziel: "Bigger stronger guys are going to be hitting him. Can he hold up physically?"
— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) May 9, 2014
Told Johnny Manziel abt texts I got from AFC North coaches last nite. He laughed, said "I'm sure I have a little bit of a target on my back"
— Aditi Kinkhabwala (@AKinkhabwala) May 9, 2014
4:15 PM: Per an interview on radio, Browns WR Josh Gordon is throwing his support behind the team drafting WR Marqise Lee at No. 35 overall:
"We have a lot of wide receivers right now on our team that we just picked up on, but I’m actually a fan of Marqise Lee," Gordon said on "SVP & Russillo" on ESPN Radio. "I don’t believe he got picked yet. That would be a great addition. I know we have an early second-round pick. We’ll see."
4:02 PM: Some best wishes from an old friend:
Happy to see how excited Cleveland is from yesterday's events. Enjoy & best of luck!

3:00 PM: The Bills did indeed swing a trade for WR Stevie Johnson, and the 49ers are the suitors:
Filed to ESPN: 49ers trading a conditional 2015 4th-round pick to Buffalo for WR Stevie Johnson, per sources. Pick can become a 3rd.

2:20 PM: Jeff Howe, who is one of the well-known Patriots reporters, says that the leaked scouting report on Manziel is a fake:
Fake. Not how Patriots numerical draft grades are presented RT @Nick_Underhill: http://t.co/NUYgsdjFHX RT @Raycribs: care to enlighten us?

1:55 PM: So, apparently, the New England Patriots' scouting report on QB Johnny Manziel was leaked.
1:52 PM: The press conference in Berea is starting soon, and the media is packing the room. The video feed on Browns.com is here.

1:10 PM: Good article from Waiting for Next Year on some of the top prospects Cleveland could be targeting today, based on positional needs.
1:04 PM: Some of you are now famous in a humiliating way (from the open threads yesterday).
12:48 PM: Heading into the draft, the Browns had three Day 2 draft picks -- one pick in round two, and two picks in round three. However, they traded one of those third round picks (the one they got from the Steelers last year) to move up when they selected QB Johnny Manziel on Day 1. Therefore, these are the picks that Cleveland has heading into tonight:
- 2nd Round, 3rd Pick (No. 35 overall)
- 3rd Round, 7th Pick (No. 71 overall)
12:42 PM: A quick note -- most of the players on our Browns' pre-draft interest tracker are still available. Also, both players who Cleveland selected in round one -- CB Justin Gilbert and QB Johnny Manziel -- appeared on the list.
12:36 PM: He won't be going down without a fight, but I don't see this causing any locker room chaos -- not in the least.
Welcome to the @Browns @JGil_4 and @JManziel2. Let's get to work!

12:35 PM: Here is some insight from an NFL evaluator, through CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora:
One evaluator's top 10 players still on the board: Garoppolo, Lee, Sankey, Hyde, Latimer, Trai Tuner, Su’a-Filo, Jernigan, Ealy, Van Noy
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) May 9, 2014
12:08 PM: And here is the Cumulative DBN Big Board, following up on our previous update. I put a strikethrough on QB Derek Carr's name; while he is available, I'm going to assume that Browns fans don't value him much any more, given that we took QB Johnny Manziel.

12:00 PM: It's time to revisit everybody's DBN Big Boards to see who is left! This will be a long update, but I think it will be worth it. I am posting eight individual big boards, and then in the next update, I will post the CUMULATIVE big board, which gives the best general consensus among the staff + community. Please keep in mind that these big boards were constructed from before the draft. Therefore, even though QB Derek Carr is listed at the top in some of them, that does not mean those people still want him, considering we drafted QB Johnny Manziel on Day 1.

11:22 AM: In case you haven't heard, the Browns will hold the introductory press conference for CB Justin Gilbert and QB Johnny Manziel at 2 PM ET in Berea. How much do you want to bet that Gilbert gets treated like a 7th round pick compared to Manziel (in terms of popularity / who the questions are directed to)?
You can watch the introductory press conference of newest @Browns @JGil_4 & @JManziel2 live at 2 pm on http://t.co/FwDlukQyZs

11:17 AM: The Houston Texans are already shopping the top pick in round two:
Here we go again: Texans listening to offers and open to moving the top pick in the second round.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) May 9, 2014
I don't think this will happen, but there's still a chance Cleveland will trade up early into the second round. It could cost them the 2015 first round pick they acquired yesterday. However, this year's draft class is supposed to be one of the deepest, so a lot of the guys going today can be viewed as starting-caliber players from the get-go. We'll see if any rumors unfold throughout the day.
11:10 AM: This is interesting -- listen to the phone call that GM Ray Farmer, head coach Mike Pettine, and owner Jimmy Haslam made to CB Justin Gilbert to inform him that they were selecting him at No. 8 overall.
Here is a pretty cool video too, capturing the moment in a Chicago Browns Backers bar of the moment when the Browns drafted QB Johnny Manziel.
11:00 AM: DBN's Zach Miller just posted a round-up of the Round 1 draft grades that many of the national media sites gave. He also included his own Round 1 draft grades, and there is a poll for everyone to grade it as well. Go check it out.
10:57 AM: Another thing to consider with Cleveland's wheeling and dealing is the fact that the cost of taking QB Johnny Manziel is cheaper at No. 22 than it is at No. 4. If they had stayed at No. 4 and selected him, the total contract would have been worth about $19.94 million. Now, it's only $8.25 million. That keeps Cleveland's options open in case things don't work out.
Cleveland saves some money this year by shifting their picks around (No. 4 and No. 26 combined would have cost more than No. 8 and No. 22 combined). However, the savings will probably offset by next year's draft, because Cleveland added a first-rounder in 2015.
10:50 AM: From one legend to another? Speaking of which, I'm not done with the Bernie Kosar preseason stuff. I'll be revisiting their axe to grind heavily once the draft stuff has settled.
Bernie Kosar hung out with Johnny Manziel in Cleveland last week. "We had a blast," Kosar said.

10:08 AM: In case you missed it, the Dawgs By Nature staff was busy late last night and early this morning with draft-related articles. Here are some features for you to kill some time with:
- Day 1 Winners and Losers (by rufio)
- My Love/Hate Relationship With Ray Farmer (notthatnoise)
- Who the Browns Should Target in Rounds 2-3 (Josh Finney)
- Daily Dawg Chow: Johnny Cleveland Edition (Jon Stinchcomb)
10:00 AM: Good morning, Browns fans! Is everybody still on cloud nine after the events of last night? One thing is for certain -- Cleveland fans were the most active in the country when it came to the NFL Draft! Take a look at the activity surrounding the selection of QB Johnny Manziel, and the television ratings in the Cleveland market:
Cleveland (13.0) led all markets for ESPN's Rd 1 #NFLDraft coverage, followed by HOU 11.6, Austin 11.3, Greenville, SC 10.8, NOLA 10.8.
— bill hofheimer (@bhofheimer_espn) May 9, 2014
Of 6.4M NFL Draft related tweets during live telecast, peak was 81,817 tweets per minute when @JManziel2 was picked.
— Neil Best (@sportswatch) May 9, 2014
That's the good news. The bad news for fans who didn't care for the draft being in May? TV ratings across the country were up 50% for the NFL Draft. In terms of the ratings, there is a lot of incentive for the league to keep the draft in May moving forward.
