Members of the local media had the opportunity to take a tour of FirstEnergy Stadium on Monday to receive an update from Cleveland Browns team president Alec Scheiner on the progress of the renovations. Although there is still a lot of work to be done, Scheiner told the media that they are on time and on budget, and that everything has gone smoothly. Mary Kay Cabot and Glenn Moore of the Plain Dealer have Scheiner's statement below:
It was interesting to hear Scheiner go into more detail about the size of the Browns' video boards: they will be the fourth-biggest in the NFL next season. The lower and upper levels already have all of the new LED boards installed, and the audio system is starting to be put into place. Daryl Ruiter of 92.3 the Fan says that the video boards will begin being installed soon:
The boards have already been built, assembled and tested off site. Portions of the boards will begin arriving from from Brookings, S.D. — home of Daktronics, which is manufacturing the video boards, displays and LED ribbon boards — on Tuesday and will be installed later this month.
The renovations might not be complete in time for Family Fun Night at the stadium this year, but the team still hopes to hold some form of event, whether it be at the stadium or an alternative location.
