Get ready, Browns fans -- we're less than a week away from the start of Cleveland Browns training camp! Although training camp doesn't officially open to the public until Saturday, July 26th, rookies and veterans have earlier reporting dates:
Browns Training Camp Report Dates
- Wednesday, July 23rd: Rookies report
- Friday, July 25th: Veterans report
- Saturday, July 26th: First public session of training camp
The Ravens and Bills' training camps for rookies actually began on Wednesday, July 16th, so camps are already underway across the NFL!
At the end of June, we said it didn't seem like that big of an issue that CB Justin Gilbert, the No. 8 overall pick of the draft, wasn't under contract. Three weeks later, though, he still isn't under contract. Gilbert and the Browns will have to come to terms on a deal in the next six days for Gilbert to avoid missing any action. There is hope, though, since one of the four unsigned draft picks left in the NFL -- WR Marqise Lee of the Jaguars -- agreed to terms on Wednesday. The only other unsigned picks besides Gilbert are Titans OT Taylor Lewan (1st round) and Dolphins OT Billy Turner (3rd round).
We originally speculated that the offset language was causing the holdup for Gilbert, but former agent Andrew Brandt gave his input on the holdup for the three unsigned draft picks:
Wanting annual salaries broken out with early (March) roster bonuses. RT @Glap what structural issues?
