Rapoport: Brian Hoyer to start at QB vs. Redskins

So, there it is. Early rumors were that Johnny Manziel would get the start but head coach Mike Pettine was quick to quash them. Now we see that the opposite is true: Hoyer will start vs. the Redskins. Mary Kay Cabot reminds us, however, that both quarterbacks will see first team reps:

But as Mike Pettine said this week, Hoyer and Manziel will divide the first-team reps equally and both work with and vs. starters.

Does this mean that Brian Hoyer has taken the lead? Is Johnny getting a fair shot or should he be the one starting vs. Washington?

Pettine: "I think it’s a little overblown as to who the starter is going to be. The key component is that we are going to balance the reps."
