Something has to give on Sunday. The Dallas Cowboys are the 2nd ranked rushing team in the NFL, averaging 147.1 yards per game and 4.63 yards per carry behind RB DeMarco Murray. The Detroit Lions, meanwhile, are by far the best team in the NFL at defending the run. They allow just 69.3 yards rushing per game on 3.17 yards per carry. The rest of their defense is tough to beat as well, which has allowed Detroit to take less of a "shootout" mentality on offense this year.
QB Tony Romo has been playing lights out for the Cowboys. We've seen Dallas collapse for several years, but not this year. Similarly, this is the first time the Lions have held tough at the end of the year and made the postseason with a strong finish to the year. It's a shame that one of these teams will be a quick first round exit while the Panthers get to move on, but that's the payoff of winning your division and in Dallas' case, getting a home game (even though they are 4-4 at home and 8-0 on the road). Cowboys 23, Lions 20 (OT)
