NFL Power Rankings: Browns Maintain Some Respect in Week 7, Ravens Plummet

Ken Blaze-USA TODAY Sports

Here is a summary of how the Cleveland Browns are viewed across mainstream media outlets heading into Week 7 Power Rankings of the NFL season.

CBS Sports - No. 26 (Down 4 from Last Week)

They competed against the Broncos, which is a good sign. The defense showed some signs of life.

FOX Sports - No. 21 (Up 2 from Last Week)

Josh McCown and Gary Barnidge have developed chemistry. The Browns need to figure out a way to stop the run and prevent big plays on the defensive end.

NFL.com - No. 20 (Same from Last Week)

Last week, we openly fawned all over Josh McCown? (Question mark intended.) This week, a more understated approach to this blurb. McCown's interceptions were not fun, the second coming with Cleveland driving for a potential game-winning field goal. The ball was lofted across the field, right into the arms of David Bruton Jr. Watch the replay again. See if you can make sense of it. Whew boy, this was the 1987 AFC Championship Game all over again, with the Browns coming back from a multi-score deficit against the Broncos ... before committing a terrible, game-altering turnover. Ugh.

Yahoo Sports - No. 21 (Same from Last Week)

The Browns got an interception in overtime and returned it to the Denver 39. They then gave to Robert Turbin (?) for a 3-yard loss, took an 8-yard sack, then took a 2-yard sack and a delay-of-game penalty before punting. The Browns never got the ball back. Brutal.

ESPN - No. 27 (Down 7 from Last Week)

The Browns are allowing an NFL-worst 149.8 rushing yards per game this season. Opponents have rushed for at least 150 yards in five of six games.

Covers.com - No. 21 (Same from Last Week)

The Browns are the only team in the NFL with a losing straight up record but a winning pointspread record. At least they’re showing competitiveness in defeat!

Listed below is a summary table of where teams in the AFC North are ranked this week. NOTE: I decided to remove "Odds Shark" from the table, as their rankings have just been staying the same without making much sense.
