Facing another 3rd-and-goal to start the second quarter, QB Josh McCown hit TE Gary Barnidge on the back shoulder throw for a 3-yard touchdown, giving the Browns a 14-7 lead over the Cardinals. The defense forced another quick punt and then Cleveland started moving the chains again, in to Arizona territory.
An uncontested fumble by RB Robert Turbin then set up a quarterback scramble by McCown, and that, coupled with an unnecessary roughness penalty, put the Browns inside the 10 yard line again. On 3rd-and-goal, McCown hit WR Brian Hartline in the back of the end zone for a 2-yard touchdown. K Travis Coons missed the extra point, though, so the Browns' lead only jumped to 20-7.
The Cardinals were then about to put together a touchdown-scoring drive to close out the first half, but on a catch by WR Larry Fitzgerald, CB K'Waun Williams ripped the ball away for a fumble recovery. After a Cleveland punt and 0:24 left, the Cardinals got in range for a field goal, which they hit from 37 yards out to make it a 20-10 game at the half. Cleveland will get the ball first to begin the third quarter.
