2016 NFL Draft Order: Browns Hold No. 1 Pick

The Cleveland Browns sit at an awful 2-8 record heading into the bye week, but there could be light at the end of the tunnel.

The club currently holds the No. 1 spot in the 2016 NFL Draft, according to SB Nation's Dan Kadar.

The Browns own the NFL's worst record, though five teams own 2-7 records. In other words, the battle for the No. 1 pick should be epic. The Titans, Ravens, Chargers, Cowboys, and Lions all sit behind the Browns.

As Kadar explains, the draft order is based on overall record, then strength of schedule. The next tiebreakers are conference records followed by division record and then a coin flip.

The Browns have chosen No. 1 just twice since 1999. The team selected quarterback Tim Couch with the top pick in 1999 and defensive end Courtney Brown in 2000. Before 1999, the Browns only held the top spot once -- in 1954. The club chose quarterback Bobby Garrett. The Stanford product never played a down for the Browns, throwing for just 143 yards and one interception for the Packers in a brief NFL career.

Cal quarterback Jared Goff (pictured above) and Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa are arguably the best players in the draft, though many others also have potential. At this point, it's too early to determine who the Browns should pick because the order can change significantly in seven weeks.
