Faced with a 4th-and-1 at the start of the second quarter, Cleveland went for it and converted with a pass to TE Gary Barnidge. In the red zone, the drive stalled after RB Isaiah Crowell could only get 1 yard on 2nd-and-2, and then was hit in the backfield on 3rd-and-1 for a loss. K Travis Coons hit a 31-yard field goal to make it a 10-3 lead for Baltimore.
Coons' ensuing kickoff went out of bounds, giving Baltimore great starting field position. QB Matt Schaub then went deep up top on CB Tramon Williams with no safety help, completing to WR Chris Givens for 48 yards and in to the red zone. Cleveland then had horrific tackling on a dumpoff to their tight end, allowing RB Javoris Allen to score from 12 yards out to make it a 17-3 game.
QB Josh McCown responded with a couple of nice throws to get into Baltimore territory. After a few more plays got them into the red zone, McCown did a great job scrambling and found WR Marlon Moore for a 10-yard touchdown pass to make it a 17-10 game. Cleveland's defense then forced a three-and-out to get the ball back before the end of the half. The Browns were in great position to tie it up, but misfired on three straight passes, forcing them to settle for a 21-yard field goal. Cleveland trails 17-13 at the half, but will get the ball first in the third quarter.
